Disintegrating (State of Mind) — 2024

This work illustrates the gradual disintegration of a generative constellation pattern inspired by the geometric motifs of Islamic art. It was designed using a framework developed in collaboration with Craig S. Kaplan. The framework introduces a graphical encoding of constellation patterns and an automatic decoding scheme that leverages circle packings as design scaffolds. This abstraction facilitates the recreation of traditional Islamic geometric patterns, the creation of retro-inspired designs, and the exploration of re-imagined forms like this one that blend order with chaos to unlock new modes of expression. The random disintegration of the pattern, intricately woven into its organic structure, represents the fragmentation of the mind as it begins to unravel.
