She was at her desk sketching. Then she was falling for the future.
Her heart felt tight, but this time she wanted to make something out of that ache besides art.
At that party, they’d stood in the corner by the stove, both incredibly influenced. He’d called himself a sad person, and she’d jolted to comfort him.
But he'd laughed.
“I make beautiful things out of my sadness.”
Then, “Beautiful machines.”
She’d almost rolled her eyes.
Sadness and screws. Constructive. Right.
And now, eleven months later, here she was.
Silly man.
